Binoculars with 12x magnification.
In the specifications for binoculars, you will usually read combinations of numbers such as 12x42 or 12x56. The first number indicates the magnification of the binoculars. The second number stands for the diameter of the objective in millimeters. At 12x magnification, the object appears twelve times larger than it does to the naked eye. For handheld binoculars, 8-10x magnification is sufficient; for higher magnification values, the use of a tripod is recommended.
