For outdoor and camping we recommend a flashlight with at least 1,000 lumens, USB-C charging and a protection rating of IP66 or higher. Fenix models such as the TK series deliver up to 12,000 lumens, robust aluminium housings and long runtimes – ideal for demanding conditions.
The 21700 battery is larger (21 mm diameter, 70 mm length) than the 18650 (18 mm, 65 mm) and therefore offers a higher capacity – typically 4,000–5,000 mAh compared with 2,600–3,500 mAh. Newer flashlights increasingly use the 21700 for longer runtimes.
For multi-day tours we recommend a power bank with at least 10,000 mAh and USB-C fast charging. Nitecore and Fenix offer rugged models that can charge smartphones multiple times while being shock-resistant and splash-proof.
Yes, Li-Ion batteries require a charger with dedicated charging electronics that prevent overcharging, deep discharge and short circuits. Nitecore chargers feature automatic format detection, gentle charging curves and LCD displays for monitoring the charging process.
