traser Swiss H3 Watches stands for self-luminous watches that perform reliably under extreme conditions. Since 1989, the Swiss company in Niederwangen has been developing and manufacturing tactical watches, outdoor watches and diver watches featuring the unique trigalight technology. The result: timepieces that are readable around the clock without a battery or light source – for approximately 20 years. With the P6500 Type 6, traser delivered the world’s first self-luminous watch to the US Army in 1989. Today, military units, first responders and outdoor enthusiasts in over 40 countries wear traser watches on their wrists.
The heart of every traser watch is trigalight technology, developed by parent company mb-microtec in Niederwangen. Ultra-thin glass capillaries – as small as 0.30 mm in diameter – are coated with a zinc sulphide luminescent layer and filled with tritium gas. They are then hermetically sealed by laser. The result: miniaturised light sources that glow for approximately 20 years without any external energy – consistently, reliably and maintenance-free. Green is the most common colour, as the human eye perceives it as brightest.
What sets traser apart from other watch brands is permanent readability. While conventional luminous paints fade after hours and backlights consume battery power, trigalight glows autonomously – no button press, no charging, no fading. In complete darkness, underwater, in dense fog or smoke: the tritium gas light sources (GTLS) on the dial and hands ensure the time is instantly visible at all times. For operational forces, divers and outdoor professionals, this feature is not merely convenient – it is vital.
The traser range is structured into three collections. The tactical watches – including the P99, P69 and P66 series – are designed for military and law enforcement operations: PVD-coated cases, anti-reflective sapphire crystals, carbon-reinforced constructions and NATO straps. The outdoor watches – P68 Pathfinder, P67 Officer Pro, P96 and P59 – offer automatic, solar, GMT and chronograph movements for active wearers. The diver watches of the P67 Diver series achieve 50 bar water resistance with a helium valve and ceramic bezel.
traser watches are entirely developed and manufactured in Switzerland. Parent company mb-microtec, founded in 1969 by Oskar Thüler, produces the trigalight light sources at its Niederwangen facility – in a production plant opened in 2018 (CHF 23 million investment). From the Swiss quartz or automatic movement through the sapphire crystal to the trigalight-equipped dial: every component meets the Swiss Made standard. Prices range from CHF 255 for entry-level models to CHF 1,430 for the P67 Diver Automatic Special Sets.
The history of traser is closely tied to professional users. In 1989 the company delivered the first self-luminous watch to the US Army to MIL-W-46374F specification. Since then, armed forces, special units such as the Polish GROM, the Swiss Air Force and rescue organisations have worn traser watches. As official timekeeper of the Tour de Suisse (2015–2017) and sponsor of extreme athletes such as the SWISS RAW rowing team, which crossed the Atlantic in record time in 2021, traser proves its reliability in the civilian sphere too.
