In 1933 the Kjellström brothers invented the first liquid-filled compass with a transparent baseplate – an innovation that became the worldwide standard for orientation. Today Silva offers a comprehensive compass range: from the Field compass for beginners through the Expedition for long-distance travel and the Ranger for precise bearing-taking to the Explorer for demanding tours. Dedicated wrist compasses are available for orienteers.
