Tents for Every Adventure – from Solo Bivvy to Family Camping

A good tent is your refuge on every tour – whether on an alpine ridge, in the Scandinavian mountains or at a campsite. At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find tents from three renowned manufacturers: Snugpak delivers compact bivvy tents that pitch in seconds. Grand Canyon offers reliable trekking tents at fair prices. And Nordisk sets benchmarks in Scandinavian tent design with ultralight silnylon constructions and robust PU models.

Our range comprises around 20 tent models – from the minimalist Snugpak Stratosphere for quick bivvy nights through the versatile Grand Canyon Topeka 2 to the spacious Nordisk Oppland 4 PU for extended camping trips with the family. Each tent has been developed for specific use cases and impresses with thoughtful construction and premium materials.

Buying Guide – Tents

1-Person Tents

For solo trekkers and bivvy enthusiasts, the Snugpak Stratosphere, Ionosphere 1P and Grand Canyon Richmond 1 and Apex 1 offer compact solutions under 2 kg. The Nordisk Lofoten 1 ULW at around 650 g is the ultralight champion in our range, ideal for weight-conscious long-distance hikers. The Nordisk Svalbard 1 PU provides more weather protection for demanding conditions.

2-Person Tents

Two-person tents are the most versatile category. The Grand Canyon Topeka 2 offers excellent value for weekend tours. The Nordisk Halland 2 (LW and PU) and Nordisk Oppland 2 PU deliver Scandinavian quality with generous interior space. The Snugpak Scorpion 2 is a proven choice for outdoor operations in harsh conditions.

3–4-Person Tents

For groups and families, consider the Snugpak Bunker 3P, Snugpak Scorpion 3 and the Nordisk Oppland 3 (PU, LW and SI) and Nordisk Oppland 4 PU. These tunnel tents provide ample room for people and gear. The Nordisk Oppland series stands out with flexible material choices between lightweight silnylon and robust PU.

Bivvy Tents

The Snugpak Stratosphere and Ionosphere 1P are designed specifically for quick overnight stays. They offer minimal footprint, low weight and pitch in just minutes. Ideal for long-distance hiking, military exercises and spontaneous overnights in the field. The Nordisk Jorund Tech Bivy complements the range as a premium bivvy bag.

Areas of Use

Our tents cover a broad spectrum of applications: from ultralight trekking and bivvy nights through weekend camping and longer tours to expeditions and military exercises. The selection ranges from one-person shelters for minimalist adventurers to spacious four-person tents for family outings.

Tip: Check the water column rating before purchasing. For alpine trekking and changeable weather, we recommend at least 3,000 mm. For summer camping, 1,500–2,000 mm is often sufficient.

Frequently Asked Questions – Tents

Which tent is best for solo trekking in the Alps?

For alpine solo trekking, we recommend the Nordisk Lofoten 1 ULW (approx. 650 g) for ultralight travel or the Snugpak Ionosphere 1P for a compact, quick-pitch bivvy tent. Both provide adequate weather protection and a small pack volume for demanding tours.

What does water column mean for tents?

The water column indicates how much water pressure the tent fabric can withstand before moisture penetrates. From 1,500 mm, a tent is considered waterproof. For alpine use, we recommend at least 3,000 mm; for heavy rain and expeditions, 5,000 mm or more.

What is the difference between PU, SI and LW tents from Nordisk?

PU tents (polyurethane coating) are robust and affordable but somewhat heavier. SI tents (silnylon/silicone coating) are lighter and more compact but cost more. LW models (lightweight) use particularly light materials and offer the best weight-to-space ratio.

How many people actually fit in a 2-person tent?

The person rating refers to maximum occupancy. For more comfort and space for gear, we recommend choosing a tent one size above your actual need. A 2-person tent is optimal for one person with lots of gear or two people with light packs.

How do I care for my tent after a tour?

Let the tent dry completely before packing it away. Remove dirt and sand with a damp cloth. Store the tent loosely – not compressed – in a dry, cool place. Avoid direct sunlight during storage as UV radiation damages the coating.
