Industrial Flashlights
Robust, safe and reliable for work

Industrial flashlights are designed for professional daily use – in workshop, maintenance, inspection and on the construction site. Robust against impacts and chemicals, often with Ex protection for explosion-hazardous areas and with functions like magnetic mount or inspection filters.

What makes an industrial light?
  • Robust against impacts, vibrations and chemicals
  • Often with magnetic base or carabiner for hands-free work
  • Ex protection (ATEX/IECEx) for explosion-hazardous areas
  • High CRI (colour rendering) for accurate inspection
  • Long runtime for entire shifts

What does industrial use require?

In an industrial environment, a light must withstand conditions that would quickly destroy EDC lights: oil, solvents, acids, vibrations, high and low temperatures. Therefore full metal housing, chemical-resistant coatings and IP protection at least IP67. For explosion-hazardous areas (chemistry, petrochemistry, mining, paint shops), Ex protection is mandatory – the light must not form an ignition source in case of failure.

Which industrial applications differ?

Different industries have different focuses:

  • Maintenance and inspection – high CRI, magnetic base, neutral light tint
  • Workshop and automotive – magnetic base, adjustable spot, often pen form
  • Chemistry and petrochemistry – ATEX/IECEx certification mandatory
  • Construction and tunnel construction – high brightness, drop-resistant, IP67
  • Food industry – cleanable smooth surfaces

What to look for when buying?

Check the required certifications for your application area. ATEX zones are differentiated by explosion protection class (zone 0, 1, 2 for gases; zone 20, 21, 22 for dusts). A light certified for zone 1 may be used in zone 1 and 2, but not in zone 0. Look for CRI > 90 for inspection (recognising corrosion, cracks, paint defects). Magnetic base allows hands-free work but is unsuitable for precise measurement or optics work.

  • ✓ Maintenance and service technicians
  • ✓ Automotive mechanics and DIYers
  • ✓ Employees in chemistry and petrochemistry (Ex area)
  • ✓ Construction workers and tunnel personnel
  • ✓ Electricians and plant builders

Frequently asked questions about industrial flashlights

What does ATEX/IECEx mean?

International standards for equipment in explosion-hazardous areas. An ATEX/IECEx certified light is constructed so it does not form an ignition source even when defective – through encapsulated electronics, low surface temperatures and protection against spark formation.

Which IP protection class do I need?

For general workshop, IP65 is enough; for moist areas, IP67; for cleaning with high-pressure cleaners, IP69K. With chemical exposure, additionally check the resistance of housing and coating materials.

What does a high CRI offer for inspection?

CRI (Color Rendering Index) indicates how naturally colours are displayed. At CRI > 90, subtle colour differences are clearly visible – decisive for paint inspection, corrosion detection or colour-coded wiring.

Magnetic base or clamp – what's better?

Magnetic base is more universal (sticks to any steel part), clamp allows attachment to pipes and edges. Many professional lights have both or allow swappable mounts.
