George Strohmaier, a nature lover from South Africa, experienced a memorable story while on safari in Kruger National Park. Along with other safari jeeps and surrounded by a pride of lions, a little girl suddenly cried out, "Mommy, I have to pee!" The story took off and so did the pee-pee on the bus.
George then had the idea of using his native South Africa as a model and founded the Wee Jon brand of portable mini toilets in Germany in 2002. He quickly recognized the need for a hygienic emergency toilet solution, especially for women at festivals and children in traffic jams.
Thus, Jonhy Wee was born. The name is made up of "JOHN", an old-fashioned term for toilet in English, the first letters of "HYGIENE" and the colloquial expression "WEE" for pee, which even the smallest people in English understand.
It wasn't until 2019 that George and his brother-in-law Robert Lerch sat down to come up with some great new ideas to make pee bags more environmentally friendly. The time was ripe for the new generation Jonhy Wee. The world had waited too long!
