Nitecore EDC Series
Nitecore EDC17 Flashlight
Three Light Sources. One Tool. Always Ready.
The Nitecore EDC17 is an exceptional everyday carry flashlight that combines three light sources in a slim, premium stainless steel body: powerful white light with up to 1,500 lumens, UV light with up to 1,350 mW for inspection tasks, and a Class 1 green laser for precise target marking. This combination makes the EDC17 one of the most versatile EDC tools on the market – uncompromisingly compact and always ready for action.
Three Light Sources – One Flashlight
White light, UV and laser in a single body: the EDC17 covers tasks that would otherwise require three separate devices. Whether illumination, fluorescence inspection or target marking – everything available at the press of a button.
White Light with Reserves
The NiteLab UHi 25 LED delivers 1,500 lumens in turbo mode with a beam distance of 230 metres and a peak intensity of 12,400 cd. Four selectable brightness levels – from 1 lumen Ultralow to full turbo – allow precise adaptation to any situation. The precision-engineered orange peel reflector ensures even illumination at both close range and long distance.
UV Light for Inspection and Analysis
The integrated UV light with a wavelength of 365 to 375 nm and an output of up to 1,350 mW opens up a broad range of applications: from verifying the authenticity of fluorescent documents and banknotes to detecting liquid residues and inspecting seals and adhesive bonds. Three brightness levels – 220 mW, 650 mW and 1,350 mW – allow situation-specific adjustment of UV intensity.
Class 1 Green Laser
The built-in green laser with a wavelength of 510 to 530 nm enables precise target marking and pointing tasks over long distances. As a Class 1 laser certified to EN 60825-1, it is safe for everyday use – a significant advantage over higher-powered and therefore regulated laser classes.
Slim Design – Always Within Reach
The EDC17’s body is made from high-strength stainless steel with PVD coating – durable, scratch-resistant and visually appealing. The ultra-flat form factor at just 16 mm deep, combined with the included deep carry clip, lets the flashlight disappear almost entirely into a trouser pocket. The detachable glass breaker made from high-hardness silicon nitride ceramic rounds out the toolkit for emergency situations.
Intuitive Operation
An M button selects the desired light source, while the slide switch controls brightness – a flashlight with three light sources rarely comes with simpler or faster controls. The battery indicator displays the charge level of the integrated 1,500 mAh Li-ion battery at any time. Charging is conveniently handled via the USB-C port – compatible with any standard charger or power bank.
Package Contents

Frequently Asked Questions – Nitecore EDC17
What light sources does the Nitecore EDC17 have?
The EDC17 features three light sources: white light with up to 1,500 lumens (NiteLab UHi 25 LED), UV light with up to 1,350 mW at a wavelength of 365–375 nm, and a green Class 1 laser with a wavelength of 510–530 nm. All three light sources are selectable via the M-button.
Is the laser of the EDC17 legal in Switzerland?
Yes. The green laser of the EDC17 is certified as Class 1 according to EN 60825-1 (< 5 mW) and is therefore legal for adults in Switzerland. Laser Class 1 is considered safe when used as intended. However, never point the laser beam directly into a person's eyes.
What is the UV light of the EDC17 suitable for?
The UV light of the EDC17 with a wavelength of 365–375 nm is suitable for numerous applications: authentication of banknotes and documents, detection of fluorescent substances, leak detection (e.g. coolant or oil), inspection of seals and adhesive joints, and hygiene surface control.
How bright is the EDC17 compared to the EDC37?
The EDC17 reaches 1,500 lumens in Turbo mode with a beam distance of 230 metres. The EDC37 is significantly more powerful with 8,000 lumens and a 420-metre range, but does not offer UV light or a laser. The EDC17 stands out through its unique triple-function and more compact design.
How long does the battery last on the EDC17?
The integrated 1,500 mAh Li-Ion battery offers the following runtimes in white light mode: Turbo (1,500 lm) approx. 1 h 45 min*, Mid (220 lm) approx. 3 h 30 min, Low (50 lm) approx. 16 h, Ultralow (1 lm) approx. 260 h. In UV mode: Level 3 (1,350 mW) approx. 2 h, Level 2 (650 mW) approx. 5 h, Level 1 (220 mW) approx. 13 h. *Determined without temperature regulation.
How is the EDC17 charged?
The EDC17 is charged via the integrated USB-C port. A USB-C charging cable is included in the package. Nitecore recommends charging the battery every 6 months if the torch is not used for an extended period.
