Custom-moulded fit
Designed in the French Alps
Sidas has been the benchmark for foot comfort and insole technology for over 50 years. Founded in 1975 in Voiron in the French Alps, it all started with an unusual idea: co-founder Loïc David spotted a footprint in the sand on a Hawaiian beach and recognised the potential of anatomically shaped insoles – the first prototypes were moulded in a kitchen oven dish. Today the range encompasses insoles for sport and everyday use, socks, foot care products and, through sister brand Therm-ic, heated solutions. At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find selected Sidas products for secure grip on winter paths.
At the heart of Sidas lies the patented 3Feet concept: three insole models – Low, Mid and High – each tailored to a specific arch type. Instead of a one-size-fits-all solution, every foot receives the support it anatomically needs. Whether running, skiing, cycling, golf or the daily walk to the office – Sidas offers a suitable insole for every activity. The thermoformable variants can be heated in an oven or at a specialist retailer to match the individual foot shape precisely, delivering a custom fit without expensive orthopaedic manufacturing.
The Sidas story begins on a beach in Hawaii. Loïc David, one of the three ski-instructor founders, observed a footprint in the wet sand – and realised that an insole should support the arch as individually as the sand embraces the foot. Together with Jacques Martin and Gabriel Pellicot, he developed the first thermoformable insoles in Voiron – moulded in a kitchen oven dish. What started as an experiment became the foundation of a brand with over 50 years of experience, which today unites the consumer brand Sidas, Therm-ic (heated products, since 2013) and Podiatech (medical insoles) under one roof.
With the acquisition of Therm-ic in 2013, Sidas expanded its portfolio to include heated insoles, socks and gloves. The Volcano Heat 3D technology provides even heat distribution inside the shoe – ideal for skiers, snowshoe hikers and anyone who values warm feet even in sub-zero temperatures. The combination of thermoformable fit and heating technology is unique on the market.
Beyond insoles, Sidas offers a comprehensive range of foot care products and protective items. Toe protectors, blister plasters, pressure-point pads and care creams help prevent problems before they arise. For winter use, the Walk Traction shoe spikes deliver reliable grip on icy and snow-covered paths – compact, lightweight and quick to fit.
