Frozen pavements, hard-packed forest trails and snow-covered car parks – Swiss winters demand dependable footing. Anti-slip studs turn ordinary shoes into winter-ready grip specialists. The steel spikes bite into the ice surface and prevent uncontrolled slipping without noticeably affecting walking comfort.
Whether commuting to work, walking the dog in the park or hiking in challenging conditions – with the right shoe spikes you walk safely and confidently. Fitting takes just seconds: pull on, adjust, go.
Half-sole models like the Sidas Walk Traction 1/2 cover only the forefoot area. They are particularly light, compact and ideal for everyday use: commuting, walks and easy winter hikes. Thanks to their reduced format, they fit easily into a jacket pocket.
Full-sole models enclose the entire shoe and provide maximum grip from heel to toe. They are suited to more demanding conditions such as mountain hikes on icy trails or longer tours on hard-packed snow.
Crampon-style chain systems offer the strongest grip on bare ice and steep terrain. Chains made from stainless steel or tungsten carbide spikes are designed for alpine use and withstand extreme loads.
Most everyday spikes use hardened steel – reliable, durable and affordable. For tougher conditions, models with tungsten carbide tips wear down significantly more slowly and also grip on bare rock.
After use, rinse the spikes under running water and let them air dry. Road salt residue can attack the material – regular cleaning extends their lifespan. Store in a dry place at room temperature.
Shoe spikes are versatile: on the winter commute, during park walks, on snowy hiking trails and even trail running on frozen ground. In Switzerland, where black ice and snow are a daily reality from November to March, anti-slip studs are a sensible addition to any shoe collection. Older adults and daily commuters in particular benefit from the extra safety.

At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find anti-slip studs from Sidas, the French specialist for foot comfort and shoe accessories. From compact half-sole solutions to robust full-sole systems – we stock products that stand up to Swiss winters.
Most models such as the Sidas Walk Traction 1/2 feature an elastic rubber band that adapts to various shoe sizes and shapes. They fit hiking boots, winter boots and most everyday shoes. Very narrow or pointed shoes may not provide an ideal fit.
Half-sole spikes cover only the forefoot area – they are lighter, more compact and ideal for everyday use. Full-sole spikes enclose the entire shoe and provide grip from heel to toe, which offers advantages on demanding terrain.
This is not recommended. The steel spikes can damage smooth floors such as tiles, marble or parquet and offer no additional grip on such surfaces. Remove the spikes when entering buildings.
With normal use on ice and snow, high-quality steel spikes last several winter seasons. The rubber band and spike tips should be checked for wear before each season. Frequent walking on asphalt or concrete accelerates wear.
For light trail running on snowy paths, compact spike models can be a good choice. For intensive running on icy terrain, specialised running spikes with a tighter fit and abrasion-resistant tungsten carbide tips are recommended.
