FAQ – Backpacks

What backpack size do I need?

For day hikes, 20–40 litres are sufficient. Multi-day trips with a tent require 60–70 litres. For expeditions or winter tours, 80–100 litres are recommended. Our largest model is the Snugpak Bergen at 100 litres.

Are the backpacks waterproof?

The backpacks are water-resistant but not fully waterproof. For optimal rain protection we recommend the Snugpak Aquacover rain covers, available in 25 to 100 litres – sized for every pack.

What does MOLLE mean?

MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) is a modular attachment system from the military sector. MOLLE webbing lets you flexibly attach additional pouches, tools or accessories to the backpack.

Which backpack is best for trekking in the Swiss Alps?

For day hikes we recommend the Snugpak Endurance 40L or Xocet 35L. For multi-day hut-to-hut tours the RocketPak 70L. For tent tours with full gear, the Bergen 100L offers ample space.

Can I use a backpack as carry-on luggage?

The Nitecore BP20 (20 L) and Nordisk Nibe (12 L) are suitable as carry-on luggage. For larger models, check your airline's size and weight restrictions.
