The Dark 30 Defiance 640 is a motorised PTZ thermal camera for stationary wildlife observation, territory monitoring and security applications. Its 640×480 sensor with 17 μm pixel pitch and thermal sensitivity of <30 mK detects humans and animals up to 1’143 m (1’250 yards) away. The motorised 360° endless pan and vertical tilt range from −90° (straight down) to +45° enable complete all-round coverage via remote control or smartphone app.

640×480 @ 60 fps – sharp, perfectly smooth thermal image

The 640×480 thermal sensor (17 μm pixel pitch, spectral range 8–14 μm) delivers a completely smooth image at 60 frames per second. Thermal sensitivity of <30 mK makes even the smallest temperature differences visible. The germanium lens (30 mm, F/1.0) provides a 20°×15° field of view and achieves a detection range of 1’143 m combined with digital zoom (1×–8×). Five colour palettes – White Hot, Black Hot, Rainbow, Magenta, Green Hot – enable optimal adaptation to any observation scenario.

App control, 10.1″ display & flexible mounting

The Defiance 640 is supplied with a 10.1″ LCD display (1’920×1’200) and is operational from the very first moment. Two HDMI outputs allow connection of additional monitors or recording devices. The Dark30 app (iOS and Android) streams the thermal image to a smartphone in near real-time and enables full remote control of the PTZ system. Three mounting options – screw mount, suction cups and 45 kg magnetic base – offer maximum flexibility for any deployment location.

IP66, −20 °C to +50 °C & 5-year warranty

The robust aluminium housing rated IP66 (dust-tight, protected against powerful water jets) is designed for permanent outdoor use. The operating temperature range from −20 °C to +50 °C covers all deployment environments. In sleep mode, the camera automatically reduces its power consumption.
