The CL20R Pro has two unique features in a camping lantern: RGB effect modes with 24 high-quality 2020 LEDs produce three mood lighting effects – RGB Chase (flowing colour chase), RGB Flow (gentle crossfade) and RGB Stepless (dimmable single-colour light). This turns the camp into a party lounge or kids’ tent into a colourful wonderland. The 5.8 GHz radar sensor detects hand motions in a 90° field within 1.5 m range and controls the lantern touch-free – when cooking with greasy hands, staying in the sleeping bag without coming out, or doing make-up in the tent. Two mode families – general and scene

The CL20R Pro has two operating modes. General: stepless dimmable warm white, plus timer (lantern turns off after set time). Ideal for reading, eating or tent night light. Scene: RGB effects (Chase, Flow, Stepless) for mood lighting. You switch between mode families with a short double-press. Dimming is stepless – not between 3 or 5 fixed levels but continuous like an analogue rotary control. You always find the perfect brightness.

Li-Ion cell or 3× AAA option – emergency stockpile capable

By default the lantern runs on the included Fenix ARB-LP1900 Li-Ion cell (1,900 mAh, USB-C-charged in 2.5 h). For multi-day tours without power or stockpile use you can swap the cell for 3× AAA batteries (alkaline or NiMH) – not included but available everywhere. AAA batteries are available at every supermarket and store 5–10 years – making the CL20R Pro the ideal stockpile lantern for the Swiss FOCP-standard set. How does the 5.8 GHz radar sensor work?
The radar sensor emits a weak 5.8 GHz radio wave and measures reflections from moving objects in its detection field (90° angle, 1.5 m range). When your hand moves in this zone, the sensor detects it and can trigger configured actions – e.g. turn the lantern on, dim or off. 5.8 GHz is the same frequency as the WLAN 5GHz band, but with very low emission and health-safe.
How bright is the CL20R Pro really?
400 lumens from 27 warm-white 2835 LEDs – enough to fully light a 2-person tent or a camping table for 4–6 people. Colour temperature is 3,700–4,200 K (warm white) – pleasant for reading and eating, less tiring than cold-white light. Stepless dimmable for perfect ambience.
What are the RGB effect modes?

Can I use AAA batteries instead of the cell?
Yes. The CL20R Pro has a flexible power system: by default it runs on the included Fenix ARB-LP1900 Li-Ion cell (1,900 mAh). However, you can remove the cell and replace it with 3× AAA batteries (alkaline or NiMH). AAA batteries are not included but available everywhere. For FOCP-style emergency stockpile storage we recommend keeping the lantern with AAA batteries (10-year storage) and using the Li-Ion cell for standard camping use.
How long does the CL20R Pro take to charge?
About 2.5 hours with a 5 V/1 A USB-C adapter. Somewhat faster with a stronger adapter. The USB-C port has internal waterproofing – you can charge in damp conditions but we recommend drying before connection.
How many mounting options are there?
Three: stand (stable footprint for table, stool or flat surfaces), magnetic base (sticks to steel constructions like RV door, fridge, workbench, car body), hanging loop (deployable loop for tent ridge pole, hammock bar, sun umbrella frame). That covers all camp and outdoor uses.
Is the CL20R Pro waterproof?
The CL20R Pro has IP65 protection – full dust protection and protection against powerful water jets from any direction. You can use the lantern in rain, snow or splash-jump water contact. For prolonged submersion (stream crossing, hammock in rain) it’s not designed – that would require IP68. In normal camping use IP65 is more than adequate.
How does the timer work?
In General mode you can set a timer that automatically turns the lantern off after a set time – ideal as night light in a child’s tent (e.g. 30 minutes of light to fall asleep, then off). You select timer duration via short press pattern – see manual for exact setup. Very practical so you don’t have to worry about turning it off.
How is the 320 h max runtime reachable?
The 320-hour max runtime applies to the most economic General mode setting (very low dim level). On maximum 400-lumen setting expect about 3–4 hours. With moderate dim setting (enough for reading) you reach 15–25 hours – that covers multiple camping evenings. In RGB effect mode runtime is significantly shorter because all LEDs are active simultaneously.
What warranty does the CL20R Pro have?
Fenix grants a Limited Lifetime Warranty: 15-day exchange for manufacturing defects, 5-year free repair for material and workmanship defects in normal use, then lifetime repair against material costs.
