The Grüezi Bag Biopod DownWool KidsTeen is a grow-along kids sleeping bag with DownWool® insulation made of down and wool – and at 780 g the lightest of the three children’s models. It fits body heights from 100 to 170 cm, which makes it the right companion when children carry their own gear: on hut tours, bikepacking or a first multi-day hike. It is manufactured in Germany.

DownWool® – the warmth of down without its biggest weakness
Down offers the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any fill – and one well-known drawback: once damp it collapses and barely insulates. That is exactly where DownWool® comes in. The fill is 70 % duck down (90/10, 650+ cuin) and 30 % refined wool. The wool fibres absorb moisture before it reaches the down and keep the loft standing. The result: 330 g of fill that stays warm even in high humidity – a tangible difference from pure down in a lakeside tent or a damp hut dormitory.
H-chamber construction – keeping the fill where it warms
To stop insulation sliding into the corners of the chambers and creating cold spots, the KidsTeen uses H-chambers, with a V-shape across the top. The fill stays evenly distributed even when a child turns over half the night. The outer fabric is ultralight 20-denier 380T nylon, water-repellent and PFC-free; inside sits a supple nylon of the same weight. The mummy shape with face baffle seals around the face without feeling tight.
Grows to 170 cm – and certified right back to the source of the down
The zip at the foot end adapts the length to the child: from 135 cm for younger children up to 190 cm for teenagers. The foot ventilation system releases heat in a controlled way when it gets too warm. The down comes from RDS-certified sources (Responsible Down Standard, CU 859743) – farms that practise neither live plucking nor force feeding. The bag additionally carries STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
Why a children’s sleeping bag carries no temperature rating
Unlike adult sleeping bags you will find no comfort or limit temperature here. That is not an omission: ISO 23537-1 explicitly does not permit temperature ratings for children’s sleeping bags, because the test manikin is built to an adult body and children regulate heat completely differently. Any figure would therefore be misleading. Go by fill weight, insulation type and season instead – and add a layer of clothing on cool nights.
