The Grüezi Bag Wolle Kids World Traveller is a grow-along kids sleeping bag with wool insulation for spring through autumn. It covers body heights from 100 to 170 cm and combines a first layer of lavalan® alpine wool with a second layer of hollow fibre. Why wool regulates the climate inside a kids sleeping bag better than pure synthetic
Wool can absorb around a third of its own weight in moisture without feeling clammy, then release it slowly. That matters with children: they perspire considerably more in their sleep than adults and cool down quickly afterwards. The first layer of lavalan® alpine wool – 85 % mulesing-free European virgin wool, 15 % corn starch – buffers that moisture while the second hollow-fibre layer provides loft and warmth. The insulation is deliberately built in two layers: 60 g/m² of alpine wool sits close to the body and handles moisture management, while 200 g/m² of ARL-Fiber 3D hollow fibre lies above it and delivers the air volume that produces warmth. The outer fabric is a recycled 40-denier soft polyester in mini ripstop, water-repellent yet tough enough for a tent floor. Against the skin sits recycled Feelsilk microfibre – soft and rustle-free.
Mummy shape with foot ventilation – designed for restless sleepers
The World Traveller is cut as a mummy with a generous comfort fit so children can turn without taking the bag with them. For safety the pre-shaped hood has no drawcord, and the pre-shaped foot box keeps pressure off the toes. If it gets too warm, the foot ventilation system lets heat out in a controlled way without opening the whole bag. The two-way autolock zip opens from both ends and, thanks to the piping construction, does not snag in the fabric.
Why a children’s sleeping bag carries no temperature rating
Unlike adult sleeping bags you will find no comfort or limit temperature here. That is not an omission: ISO 23537-1 explicitly does not permit temperature ratings for children’s sleeping bags, because the test manikin is built to an adult body and children regulate heat completely differently.
