17 mm eye relief and 4.2 mm exit pupil – why the 10x42 still works at dusk
The 10x42 format is the classic all-round binocular – for good reason. A 42 mm objective yields a 4.2 mm exit pupil, which still delivers enough light to the eye in dusk conditions. The generous 17 mm eye relief suits eyeglass wearers particularly well – the full field of view remains visible without edge clipping. At 1,000 m you get 104.8 m of field, enough to track birds in flight or scan a hunting territory.
Field-ready in any weather – IPX7, nitrogen and rubber armouring
The KENKO Ultraview EX OP 10x42 DH III is waterproof to IPX7 (1 m depth, 10 minutes) and nitrogen-purged. That prevents fogging on the inner lenses during temperature changes – a common issue on non-purged binoculars. The rubberised outer shell provides sure grip even with wet or gloved hands and absorbs light impacts. A fibreglass-reinforced chassis stays light and rigid at once – perfect for long observation days in the field.
Ergonomics and controls – focus, diopter adjustment and twist-up eyecups
The centre-focus wheel of the KENKO Ultraview EX OP 10x42 DH III runs smoothly and precisely across its entire travel. The diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece compensates for differences between your eyes – once set, it stays put. Multi-position twist-up eyecups retract for eyeglass wearers (full field preserved thanks to 17.0 mm eye relief) or extend for naked-eye use. Interpupillary distance 56-73 mm fits almost all adult users.
What is the KENKO Ultraview EX OP 10x42 DH III built for? – Hunting, hiking, birding
The 10x42 format at 610 g sits nicely between ultra-compact and heavy observation binoculars. Light enough for long hiking days, bright and detailed enough for ID calls at 200–400 m. The built-in tripod mount accepts a tripod adapter for static observation sessions.
