Pulsar Wildlife Alaris XG30
Compact Thermal Monocular for Wildlife Enthusiasts
640×480 Lynred sensor with sNETD <25 mK – reliable thermal imaging in a magnesium alloy body weighing just 310 g, IPX7-rated, Wild Vision App-connected
High-resolution thermal imaging for wildlife – compact, reliable, always ready.
The Pulsar Wildlife Alaris XG30 is a compact thermal monocular built around a 640×480 Lynred sensor – the same European-manufactured detector platform used in professional field observation instruments. At just 310 g and 144 mm in length, it fits in a jacket pocket and is always at hand for spontaneous wildlife encounters, evening surveys or early morning walks. The 30 mm F1.2 germanium objective and 2x base magnification (variable to 16x) cover the full range from wide-area scanning to the detailed examination of distant subjects. With a detection range of up to 1’300 m, an IPX7 waterproof rating, a frost-resistant AMOLED display and up to 7 hours of battery life from the removable APS3 pack, the Alaris XG30 is designed to work reliably wherever wildlife takes you.
Thermal Sensor · 640×480 / 12 µm / sNETD <25 mK · Lynred (EU)
European-made Lynred sensor – genuine 640×480 resolution with fine thermal sensitivity
The 640×480 uncooled microbolometer in the Alaris XG30 is manufactured by Lynred – a French sensor company and one of Europe’s leading producers of high-performance infrared detectors. Lynred sensors are specified with a 12 µm pixel pitch: the smaller the pixel pitch at a given resolution, the more optical detail the sensor resolves without requiring a larger and heavier objective lens. The system-level NETD (sNETD) of less than 25 mK means the complete optical-sensor system reliably detects temperature differences of less than 0.025 °C between adjacent scene points. In field terms: an animal standing in thick grass, a recently bedded deer hollow, or a fox on a warm evening road surface are all resolved in clear thermal contrast, even at distances where the naked eye sees nothing. The 50 Hz frame rate produces smooth, real-time video without motion smear. Combined with the F1.2 30 mm objective, the sensor achieves a 1’300 m detection range with a 14.6° field of view at 2x base magnification.
Wild Vision App – stream, record and control from your smartphone
The Alaris XG30 connects to the Pulsar Wildlife Wild Vision app via Wi-Fi for Android and iOS devices. Through the app, the user can view the live thermal image stream on a smartphone or tablet, control device settings remotely, download recorded content from the 64 GB of onboard storage, and share footage directly from the field. The built-in video recorder captures MP4 footage with audio and still images in JPG format – both stored on the 64 GB internal memory, enough for many hours of recordings without offloading in the field. Nine selectable thermal colour palettes – including White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Rainbow, Ultramarine, Red Monochrome, Sepia, Violet and Green – allow the image to be optimised for different terrain types, ambient temperatures and observation contexts.
Magnesium alloy body – IPX7 waterproof, frost-resistant, 310 g
Despite its compact dimensions of 144×41×69 mm, the Alaris XG30 is built around a precision-formed magnesium alloy chassis. Magnesium alloy combines structural rigidity and impact resistance with lower weight than aluminium, and its thermal conductivity helps dissipate the sensor’s heat efficiently – which directly contributes to lower image noise and better sNETD performance. The IPX7 rating certifies protection against immersion in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes, covering heavy rain and wet vegetation scenarios. The frost-resistant AMOLED display remains clearly legible in cold conditions where standard LCD displays lose brightness and contrast. The operating temperature range of −25 °C to +40 °C covers the full span of seasons in which wildlife observation takes place in the Alps and surrounding regions. The removable APS3 battery provides up to 7 hours of use and charges via USB-C fast charging; a spare battery can be hot-swapped in the field for continuous operation.
