The sharpening process always follows the same steps: first restore the primary bevel with a coarse grit (325 mesh), then refine with a medium grit (600 mesh) and finally polish with a fine grit (1200 mesh) or on a leather strop. DMT recommends water as the only lubricant – no oil needed.

A bench stone is a stationary sharpening stone for the workshop or home – large surface, maximum control. The Diafold is a foldable sharpener for the field – compact and protected in its handle.
DMT diamond sharpeners require only water as a lubricant – no oil needed. This makes cleaning easy and field use straightforward.
A strop (leather strip) is used to deburr and polish the blade after sharpening. It removes the burr and polishes the edge to razor sharpness. BeaverCraft polishing compounds enhance the effect.
Coarse (325 mesh) for damaged or dull blades. Medium (600 mesh) for standard sharpening. Fine (1200 mesh) and extra-fine for finishing. The DuoSharp combines two grits on one stone.
