The development of the "A-Joint" mechanism has several advantages. Firstly, the sliding joint mechanism is connected to the joint with only one double-jointed spring (dragonfly wing shape). Here, the upper leg, which holds the blade open, has more pressure than the lower leg due to the thickness of the material, which makes it easier and quicker to open. On the other hand, the blade length is greater than with conventional slip joint systems. In the area of safety, the A-Joint system has the additional positive feature that the blade is safely in the grip area when closed.

The sharp 82mm long blade, with a thickness of 3.05mm, is made of high-quality N690 steel with stonewash finish. When open, the Paragon has a total length of 194mm, weighing 125g. It remains stable even under heavy use and allows safe guiding.

N690 stainless steel
The high-quality N690 steel from Böhler is also known as 1.4528 or VG10 or 440MOD steel. This is a stainless, high-alloy steel that was developed especially for the food industry and is used for corrosion-resistant knives with demanding cutting tasks. The N690 steel contains a relatively high carbon content of 1%, which makes this steel grade harder than most stainless steels on the market.

Milled G10 knife handle
The milled handle shells of the Paragon G10 STW are made of G10 high-pressure fibreglass laminate, a composite material of glass fibre and epoxy resin. This material has high strength, low moisture absorption, excellent electrical insulation properties and high chemical resistance.
