The Bolo shape – why a wider tip chops harder

The Gerber Gator Bolo Machete uses the classic bolo blade profile: the blade widens toward the tip instead of tapering. This geometry shifts weight forward and generates more impact per swing – similar to an axe. The result: less effort to chop through dense vegetation, vines and limbs. The 39.2 cm blade in 1055 carbon steel is shorter than a standard machete but equally effective for chopping thanks to the bolo shape. Full-tang construction ensures nothing breaks or loosens under full-force swings. Bolo Shape · 1055 Carbon Steel

1055 carbon steel – tough, hard and built for heavy impacts

1055 is a medium-carbon steel widely used in machete and sword making. It offers an excellent balance of hardness and toughness – hard enough to stay sharp, tough enough not to break under heavy impacts. The blade resharpens easily in the field. Like all carbon steels, 1055 is more prone to corrosion than stainless – regular oiling extends its life.

💎 1055 carbon steel · high toughness · impact-resistant
💥 Bolo shape · forward-weighted · more force per swing
🔩 Full tang · break-proof · maximum stability

Rubber overmold handle – full control on every swing

The rubber overmold handle sits securely in hand and absorbs vibration from heavy chops. The texture grips reliably with wet, dirty or sweaty hands. With a bolo-profile machete that generates significant momentum, a secure grip is essential for fatigue-free work.

Nylon sheath – compact protection for the Bolo blade

The included nylon sheath is shaped for the wider bolo profile and protects the blade reliably during transport. It attaches to a belt and keeps the machete within reach.

Très Bonne machette
4 from 5
1 from 1 person found this helpful.

5 from 5
