Tactical hammocks from Great Britain with matching insulation
Comfortable camping hammocks – also as a double for two
Integrated insect protection on jungle and mosquito variants
Under blanket, quilt and tarp make the hammock ready for the night
A hammock is the lightest way to sleep outside: no flat ground needed, no poles, set up in minutes – two trees are enough. From an evening by the river to a weekend at a mountain lake or a bushcraft night in the woods, the hammock shines exactly where tents reach their limits. At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find hammocks from Snugpak, the British specialist for tactical Outdoor equipment, and Grand Canyon with the comfortable Bass series – completed by Fosco, BCB and the Nordisk tarp for weather protection.
The right hammock depends on how you want to use it. Here are the most important use cases:
For a night outdoors, the Snugpak Jungle Hammock is the benchmark: integrated mosquito net, rugged fast-drying fabric and a tactically designed setup that grows into a fully-fledged sleeping place with under blanket and tarp. Important for any overnight stay: insulation from below – more on that below.
When every gram counts, go for the Snugpak Tropical – light, compact and fast-drying – or the Fosco heavy-duty mini hammock, which takes up hardly any space in your pack. Both are pitched in minutes and also serve as an emergency sleeping option on multi-day tours.
For relaxed hours, the Grand Canyon Bass is the classic: simple setup, comfortable lie and rugged fabric. For two, choose the extra-wide Bass Double. Both are as much fun in the garden as at the swimming spot or campsite.
By lakes and rivers, mosquitoes arrive quickly on warm summer evenings. The Grand Canyon Bass Mosquito and the Fosco Jungle Hammock bring the mosquito net with them – stretched over the lying area, you sleep protected and still enjoy a clear view into the treetops.
If you sleep in your hammock regularly, build a system: Snugpak Under Blanket against the cold from below, Cocoon sleep system or Quilt as the top layer and the Nordisk Voss Tech Tarp as a weather roof above. This turns the hammock into a fully-fledged sleeping place for three to four seasons.
For getting started, a Grand Canyon Bass or the affordable Fosco mini is all you need: hang it up, try it out, get hooked. For children: hang the hammock low (seat height), choose soft ground underneath and supervise. As a storage net at the family camp, the BCB gear hammock does a fine job.
Snugpak has been manufacturing sleep systems and Outdoor equipment in Great Britain for decades – rugged, functional and proven in both military and civilian use. The Jungle and Tropical hammocks rely on fast-drying fabrics and well-thought-out details, while the Under Blanket, Cocoon and Quilt form a matched insulation system that makes the hammock ready for the night. If you want a reliable setup for real overnight stays, Snugpak is your brand.
The Bass series from Grand Canyon stands for uncomplicated hammock comfort: rugged fabrics, comfortable lying surfaces and a fair price-performance ratio. Whether as a single, as the extra-wide Double for two or as the Mosquito with integrated insect protection – the Bass is the right choice for camping, garden and swimming spot.
Fosco Industries supplies affordable army and Outdoor equipment – from the compact mini hammock to the jungle variant with mosquito net. BCB International, the British survival specialist, contributes the practical gear hammock. And with the Voss Tech Tarp from Nordisk you get Danish premium quality as weather protection over your setup.

In a hammock, the cold comes from below: your sleeping bag is compressed under your body and loses its insulating power exactly there. That is why every overnight setup needs an insulation layer under the hammock – and a roof above it:
| Product | Function | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Snugpak Under Blanket | Insulating blanket under the hammock | Cool nights, 3 seasons |
| Snugpak Cocoon | All-round sleep system | All-season setup |
| Snugpak Quilt | Light blanket as top layer | Summer, flexible add-on |
| Nordisk Voss Tech Tarp | Weather roof over the setup | Rain, wind, dew |
You will find more weather roofs and shelters in the category Tarps & Shelters, and matching sleeping bags under Sleeping Bags.
A hammock is pitched quickly – and with these five rules, safely too:
With little effort, your hammock stays ready for many seasons. Three care rules:

Here you go to the Snugpak models: Snugpak hammocks. Or to the Bass series: Grand Canyon hammocks. If you prefer sleeping on the ground, you will find the alternative under Tents.
The Grand Canyon Bass is our beginner's tip: uncomplicated setup, rugged fabric and a comfortable lie at a fair price. If you spend your summers mainly by the water, go straight for the Bass Mosquito with mosquito net. And if you first want to test cheaply whether hammock lounging is for you, start with the Fosco mini hammock.
Not for the afternoon nap in the garden – almost always for sleeping outside. By lakes, rivers and near woods, mosquitoes are very active in the warm season. Models like the Snugpak Jungle, the Fosco Jungle or the Grand Canyon Bass Mosquito have the net firmly integrated – it stretches over the lying area and can be folded aside when not needed.
In a hammock the cold comes from below: your sleeping bag is compressed flat under your body and barely insulates there. The solution is an under blanket that hangs outside under the hammock and forms an uninterrupted insulation layer – or a sleeping mat inside the hammock as the simpler variant (matching models under Sleeping Mats). On top, a quilt or sleeping bag provides warmth from above.
Free access to the forest is generally allowed in Switzerland – but for overnight stays and bivouacking, the rules differ by canton, municipality and protected area. In nature reserves, wildlife rest zones and on private land, overnight stays are not permitted without authorisation. Our recommendation: check with the municipality in advance, use tree-friendly straps, leave no trace and respect wildlife – then a night in the woods is usually no problem.
Snugpak is the choice for sleeping outside: tactical Jungle and Tropical hammocks plus a complete, matched insulation system (Under Blanket, Cocoon, Quilt). Grand Canyon is the choice for comfort and leisure: the Bass series for garden, lake and campsite – also as a double for two. Rule of thumb: sleeping outside → Snugpak, relaxing → Grand Canyon.
Choose two solid anchor points (healthy trees, wide tree-friendly straps), tension the suspension at a relaxed angle of around 30 degrees and bring the lying surface to seat height. If you lie diagonally in the hammock, you sleep noticeably flatter and more ergonomically. Carabiners, ropes and fixing material are in the category Tent Anchoring.
Yes – with simple precautions: hang the hammock low (seat height at most), make sure the ground underneath is soft and do not leave smaller children lying unsupervised. Help with getting in and out until the movement is familiar. For families, the Bass Double proves itself: enough space to lie together and stable enough for daily use.
Three rules are enough: First, store it dry only – let it dry completely after rain or dew, otherwise mildew threatens. Second, rinse dirt out with lukewarm water and mild soap and air dry; no aggressive cleaners. Third, regularly check the mosquito net, seams and suspension points and fix small damage early. A good hammock then lasts many seasons.
An under blanket hangs outside under the hammock and forms a lofty, uninterrupted insulation layer there. A blanket inside the hammock, on the other hand, is compressed flat by your body weight – just like the sleeping bag – and loses its warming effect exactly where you need it. The Snugpak Under Blanket is matched to the Jungle and Tropical models and turns the hammock into a three-season sleeping place.
The hammock wins on weight, pack size and pitching time – and it needs no flat, dry ground. The tent offers more storage space, protection for your equipment and works above the tree line, where anchor points are missing. Many combine both depending on the tour. If you prefer the ground variant, you will find our selection under Tents.
For sleeping outside, the classic setup consists of four parts: hammock with mosquito net, under blanket against the cold from below, quilt or sleeping bag as the top layer (selection under Sleeping Bags) and a tarp as a weather roof above – for example the Nordisk Voss Tech Tarp or a model from the category Tarps & Shelters. Add fixing material – and your weatherproof night camp is complete.
