A hammock has established itself as a full alternative to a tent. It offers more comfort, better ventilation and protects from wet or uneven ground. At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find outdoor hammocks from Snugpak and Grand Canyon in stock in Switzerland – from the tactical jungle hammock for military and bushcraft use to the comfortable camping hammock for relaxed weekends.
The range is rounded out with high-quality hammock accessories: the Snugpak Under Blanket insulates against cold from below, the Snugpak Quilt offers a wide, light cover, and the Snugpak Cocoon is a sleeping bag designed specifically for the hammock. For rain protection we carry matching tarps & shelters as a separate add-on.
Two models have proven especially popular with our customers:
If you are looking for a hammock with mosquito net and tarp, you get a complete sleep solution in one system: mosquito net against insects, integrated rain cover above, hammock as the sleeping spot. This combination is the standard in tropical regions, in bushcraft and on multi-day trips – in any weather, off the ground. Two key models in the range:
The Snugpak Jungle Hammock and Tropical Hammock are designed for use in tropical and humid environments. Both feature an integrated mosquito net that reliably keeps insects out. The Tropical variant adds an integrated rain cover. The Tropical Terrain rounds out the range as a ground-level variant.
The Grand Canyon Bass and Bass Double are the right choice for relaxed camping. The Bass is a single hammock available in Rooibos Tea and Storm, the Bass Double offers room for two as a double hammock. The Bass Mosquito features an integrated mosquito net and is the right pick when insect protection is needed at the campsite or in the garden.
For comfortable nights in the hammock, insulation from below is essential. The Snugpak Under Blanket hangs underneath the hammock and prevents cold spots. The Snugpak Quilt acts as a light cover. The Snugpak Cocoon is a hammock sleeping bag that wraps the entire hammock. For tree suspension you will find matching tree straps and carabiners in our tent anchoring category; classic sleeping bags are also available if you prefer the variant with a regular sleeping bag on a sleeping pad below the hammock.
All hammocks come with suspension straps or ropes. For the optimal hang: the hammock should form a slight sag (about 30° angle of the suspension to the horizontal). Attach the suspension at about 1.5 m height. Use wide tree-protection straps to avoid damaging the bark.
Outdoor hammocks suit camping, bushcraft, trekking, long-distance travel and relaxed afternoons in the garden. Tactical models like the Snugpak Jungle are used by armed forces worldwide. The Grand Canyon Bass series is ideal for camping, festivals and leisure use. For multi-day trips in forested terrain, the combination of Jungle Hammock, separate tarp and underquilt creates a complete setup that beats most tents on comfort and airflow.

At Swiss-Sale.ch you buy your hammock directly from our warehouse in Menzingen. We ship throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein, free of charge from CHF 100. We carry hammocks and accessories from established brands in professional outdoor and military use. Snugpak hammocks are used by armed forces worldwide, Grand Canyon offers comfortable camping hammocks at a fair price.
The Snugpak Tropical Hammock combines both in one system: integrated mosquito net and integrated rain cover (tarp). It is the right choice if you want a complete sleep solution in one stuff sack and don’t want to add anything separately. The Snugpak Jungle Hammock has the mosquito net integrated; a tarp is pitched separately above.
Yes, outdoor hammocks like the Snugpak Jungle and Tropical are designed for overnight use. With an underquilt against cold from below and a tarp for rain, they fully replace a tent. Many bushcrafters and long-distance hikers prefer hammocks to tents because they are independent of ground conditions and usually cooler.
At temperatures below +15 °C we recommend an underquilt such as the Snugpak Under Blanket. A regular sleeping bag is compressed under body weight and therefore does not insulate well from below. The underquilt hangs freely below the hammock and retains its full insulation value.
The Grand Canyon Bass Double is designed as a double hammock for two people. It offers enough width for comfortable lounging together. For overnight stays for two, however, we recommend two separate hammocks for better sleep comfort.
Use the included suspension straps and wrap them around the tree trunk. The ideal hanging height is about 1.5 m. Make sure the trees are stable enough (at least 15 cm trunk diameter) and use wide straps to protect the bark. Matching tree straps and carabiners are available in our tent anchoring category.
Both hammocks have an integrated mosquito net. The Tropical Hammock additionally features an integrated rain cover (tarp), so no separate rain protection is needed. The Jungle Hammock is lighter and more compact, but requires a separate tarp in rain.
A hammock sleeps cooler, is usually lighter and pitched in seconds – but it needs two solid trees. A tent or bivvy bag is independent of terrain and the better choice for open meadows, alpine zones above the treeline or snow camps. For forests, bushcraft and multi-day tours in wooded regions, the hammock is often the more comfortable and faster option.
With the right setup, the hammock works well below freezing. The key is bottom insulation: the Snugpak Under Blanket is rated to about 0 °C, the Snugpak Cocoon with integrated sleeping bag goes lower. Without an underquilt, things get uncomfortable already at +15 °C – not because of the air temperature, but because the sleeping bag, compressed under body weight, loses its insulation value.
Tactical Snugpak models are typically rated for at least 130–180 kg, the Grand Canyon Bass Double for around 200 kg. The exact load capacity is on each product page. Important: the rating refers to the hammock itself – the trees and the suspension also need to be able to safely carry the load.
Most parachute silk or nylon hammocks can be washed gently at 30 °C in the machine – ideally inside a pillowcase or laundry bag to keep the suspension from tangling. Use a mild detergent without fabric softener. Air-dry afterwards, never tumble-dry. Models with integrated mosquito net and tarp need extra care – check the manufacturer’s care instructions.
For bushcraft and longer stays in the woods, the Snugpak Jungle Hammock and Tropical Hammock are first choices. They are robust, compact, fast to pitch and comfortable in the warmer months thanks to their integrated mosquito net. Combined with a separate tarp and Under Blanket they form a complete setup that handles several nights at the same spot without issue.
Yes, especially the Grand Canyon Bass and Bass Double are excellent for the garden. They offer plenty of lounging comfort, come in subtle colours and can be hung between two trees, on a hammock stand or between a house wall and a tree. For permanent outdoor use we recommend taking the hammock down in the rain or shielding it with a tarp to extend its lifespan.
Most outdoor hammocks pack into the stuff sack attached to the fabric – don’t fold, just stuff loosely. This avoids permanent creases and makes packing a matter of seconds. On models with integrated mosquito net and tarp (Tropical Hammock), follow the right order: mosquito net first, then the body, then the tarp.
