The EDC31's optical proximity sensor continuously monitors the distance to objects in front of the lens. If it detects an obstacle closer than a safe threshold, it automatically reduces output to prevent dangerous heat build-up. This protects the LEDs, the optics and surrounding materials – and your skin if the light is accidentally activated in a pocket.
