The Kestrel 3500 in yellow is the classic choice for anyone seeking a compact, reliable weather meter. It measures wind speed, temperature, humidity, heat index, dew point, wet bulb temperature, barometric pressure, altitude and wind chill. The bright yellow colour ensures the device is easy to spot in your pack or on the ground.
The Kestrel 3500NV offers exactly the same measurement functions as the 3500 – with the addition of a night-vision-compatible display (NV = Night Vision). Instead of white backlighting it uses red light that will not interfere with night vision devices. The olive colour and NV function make this model the preferred choice for military operations, dusk hunting and night-time outdoor activities.
The impeller is the heart of the wind measurement: the small fan wheel in the head of the Kestrel spins in the airflow to capture wind speed. If the impeller needs replacing after heavy use or damage, Kestrel offers the genuine spare part. Swapping it takes just seconds with no tools required.
The Kestrel 3500 series measures over ten different weather and environmental parameters: current wind speed, maximum and average wind speed, air temperature, relative humidity, heat index, dew point, wet bulb temperature, barometric pressure, altitude and wind chill factor. All readings are shown on a backlit LCD display. The housing is IP67 waterproof and MIL-Spec drop-tested.
In addition to the replacement impeller, we recommend a lanyard for securing the device and a protective pouch for transport. The Kestrel 3500 series runs on a CR2032 coin cell that lasts up to 300 hours depending on usage.

Yes, the Kestrel 3500 is IP67 certified. It withstands complete submersion in water up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes. It also floats – making loss in water virtually impossible.
The impeller can be swapped in seconds without tools. Carefully pull the old impeller from its mount and push the new one in until it clicks. Kestrel recommends replacement after heavy wear or damage to the blades.
