A good flashlight is both a tool and a backup: on your keyring for the way home, in your backpack on a hike, in the car, in your emergency kit or on duty for hunting, fire services and security. Summer time ends in the night to Sunday, 25 October 2026. From then on it gets dark an hour earlier in the evening, and you need a reliable light source more often.
At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find around 100 LED flashlights from Fenix, Nitecore, Varta, BCB International and Olight: mini lights for your keyring, rechargeable EDC lights with USB-C, hunting lights with coloured light, explosion-proof lights for industry and searchlights up to 18'000 lumens. This buying guide shows you which flashlight suits your activity and what to look for in lumens, beam distance, battery and protection rating.
EDC stands for Every Day Carry – the flashlight you have with you every day. It should be compact, have a clip and be easy to operate with one hand. The Nitecore EDC29 delivers 6'500 lumens and 400 m beam distance at 160 g and shows brightness, voltage and remaining runtime on an OLED display; the Nitecore EDC37 reaches up to 190 hours of runtime with 8'000 lumens and an 8'000 mAh battery. The Fenix PD36R Pro (2'800 lumens, 380 m) is IP68-rated and has a dual switch you can operate without looking. More models: EDC flashlights.
On hikes, treks and at camp, long runtime, weather resistance and a power supply you can top up on the go count most. The Fenix LD22 V2.0 delivers 800 lumens and 214 m and runs on the supplied 14100 battery, which you charge via USB-C, or on standard AA batteries. The Fenix E35R (3'100 lumens, 260 m) has a magnetic tail cap so you can attach it hands-free at camp. For light in the whole tent choose camping lamps, for free hands headlamps. More models: outdoor flashlights.
When hunting you need reach and often coloured light. The Fenix HT32 combines a white LED with 2'500 lumens and 640 m beam distance with a red (up to 400 lumens) and a green LED (up to 1'400 lumens) and is IP68-rated. If you need to see very far, the Fenix HT18R V2.0 reaches up to 1'100 m with 3'700 lumens. Observe the hunting regulations of your canton when using lights. Models with coloured light and long reach: hunting flashlights.
Tactical flashlights are built for police, security services and emergency services: tail or dual switch for one-handed operation, direct access to the highest level and a rugged housing. You will find the selection under tactical flashlights.
For search and rescue, fire brigades, civil protection or large properties you need a lot of light over long distances. The Fenix LR35R delivers 10'000 lumens and 500 m beam distance from a 140 mm housing and runs on two 21700 batteries; the LR35R Pro adds red light, UV light (365 nm) and a power bank function. The Fenix LR80R searchlight reaches 18'000 lumens and 1'130 m, with a 12'000 mAh battery pack and a shoulder strap. The Fenix LR50R V2.0 combines 18'000 lumens with UV and red light and an OLED display. More models: rescue and search flashlights.
In potentially explosive areas you need a certified lamp. The Fenix WF30RE is rechargeable, delivers 280 lumens and 170 m and is certified for gas zones 1 and 2 and dust zones 21 and 22. The Fenix WF05E (85 lumens, 2 AAA batteries) weighs just 58 g, and the Fenix WF11E (200 lumens, 3 AA batteries) is also approved for zones 0 and 20. For workshops and assembly without explosion protection, work lights such as the Fenix WT25R with swivel head and magnetic base are practical. Overview: industrial flashlights.
A mini flashlight on your keyring is always with you. The Fenix E02R weighs 15 g, delivers 200 lumens and is IP68-rated; the BCB LED Micro weighs 7.5 g and runs on two coin cells. In an emergency kit the light must work without a power socket: you charge the Varta Dynamo Light with its hand crank – one minute of cranking gives about five minutes of light. The Fenix E-SPARK has 100 lumens, red light and a power bank function to top up your phone in an emergency. More: keychain flashlights and flashlights with SOS mode.
Lumens indicate how much light a flashlight emits in total. More is not automatically better: at close range too much light dazzles, and the highest level drains the battery fast. These guide values help you choose:
| Use | Light output | Examples in our range |
|---|---|---|
| Keyring, emergency kit | up to 200 lumens | BCB LED Micro (7.5 g), Varta Metal Key Chain Light (15 lm), Fenix E02R (200 lm) |
| Everyday, household, way home | 200 to 1'000 lumens | Fenix E12 V3.0 (200 lm), E03R V2.0 (500 lm), LD22 V2.0 (800 lm) |
| Outdoor, camping, workshop | 1'000 to 3'000 lumens | Fenix WT25R (1'000 lm), Nitecore EDC09 (1'600 lm), Fenix PD36R Pro (2'800 lm) |
| Hunting, long distances | 2'500 to 5'000 lumens | Fenix HT32 (2'500 lm, 640 m), HT18R V2.0 (3'700 lm, 1'100 m), C7 Pro (4'600 lm) |
| Search and rescue | 7'000 to 18'000 lumens | Olight Marauder Mini (7'000 lm), Fenix LR35R (10'000 lm), LR50R V2.0 and LR80R (18'000 lm each) |
Lumens and beam distance are two different values: the beam distance in metres shows how far the beam carries and depends on the luminous intensity in candela (cd) – in other words, how strongly the reflector or lens focuses the light. That is why the Fenix HT18R V2.0 reaches 1'100 m with 3'700 lumens, while the Nitecore EDC29 reaches 400 m with 6'500 lumens; the Fenix LR80R focuses 18'000 lumens to 318'000 cd and 1'130 m. Many models step down the highest level when they heat up, the Fenix C7 Pro for example from 60 °C. If reach matters most, choose by beam distance, for example flashlights with 300 to 399 m beam distance.
Many powerful flashlights use replaceable lithium-ion cells; in our range you will find models with 18650 and with 21700 batteries. The Fenix PD36R Pro and C7 Pro each use a 21700 battery with 5'000 mAh, the LR35R two with 4'000 mAh each. The advantage: you can carry a charged spare. On models such as the Nitecore EDC29 (2'500 mAh) or EDC37 (8'000 mAh) the battery is built in – this saves space but cannot be swapped on the go.
Most rechargeable flashlights charge directly via USB-C – from a mains adapter, a power bank or in the car. The Fenix C7 Pro charges fully with 20 W in about 1.5 hours. Some models also supply power: the Fenix LR80R and LR35R Pro charge your smartphone via their power bank function. Check the connector: the Fenix E02R charges via Micro-USB, the Olight Marauder Mini with the magnetic MCC3 cable. All rechargeable models: rechargeable flashlights.
You can buy batteries anywhere, and a flashlight with batteries is ready for use even after months in a drawer. The Fenix E12 V3.0 runs on one AA battery and draws no power in standby; the Fenix LD22 V2.0 takes the supplied rechargeable battery or AA batteries. AAA batteries are used, for example, by the Fenix LD02 V2.0 with UV light and the explosion-proof WF05E. There are also models for CR123A lithium batteries.
The protection rating shows how well a flashlight is protected against dust and water. The first digit after IP stands for dust, the second for water; an X means that dust protection was not tested. IP68 means dustproof and protected during continuous submersion – on Fenix models such as the LR35R, PD36R Pro or E02R down to 2 m. The Olight Marauder Mini is IPX8-certified. IPX6, as on the Nitecore EDC09, protects against water jets, IP54, as on the Nitecore EDC29 and EDC37, against splashing water.
Drop resistance indicates the height from which a light survives a fall onto a hard surface: the Nitecore EDC37 and EDC09 are drop-resistant to 2 m, the Olight Marauder Mini to 1.5 m, the Fenix PD36R Pro and LR35R to 1 m. Housings made of hard-anodised aluminium, as on the Fenix LR35R, or PVD-coated stainless steel, as on the Nitecore EDC37, are scratch-resistant and durable.

It depends on the use. For your keyring and emergency kit up to 200 lumens are enough, for everyday use and the way home 200 to 1'000 lumens. For outdoor, camping and workshop 1'000 to 3'000 lumens make sense, for hunting and long distances more. Searchlights such as the Fenix LR80R reach 18'000 lumens. In everyday use you mostly use the medium levels – they save the battery and dazzle less.
Lumens describe the total amount of light, the beam distance in metres how far the beam usefully reaches. The beam distance depends on the luminous intensity in candela, i.e. how strongly the light is focused. That is why the Fenix HT18R V2.0 reaches 1'100 m with 3'700 lumens, while the Nitecore EDC29 reaches 400 m with 6'500 lumens. For close range a wide beam is more comfortable, for long distances a focused one.
The Nitecore EDC29 delivers 6'500 lumens at 160 g, the Nitecore EDC37 8'000 lumens at 199 g – both with a built-in battery and OLED display. The Fenix PD36R Pro delivers 2'800 lumens and 380 m at 169 g and is IP68-rated. Even more output comes from the Fenix LR35R with 10'000 lumens in a 140 mm housing (382 g with batteries).
For a keyring, low weight and a secure attachment ring count. The Fenix E02R (15 g, 200 lumens, IP68) is rechargeable, the Fenix E03R V2.0 (30 g, 500 lumens) also has red light. The BCB LED Micro weighs 7.5 g and runs on coin cells, the Varta Metal Key Chain Light (15 lumens) on batteries. As a mini light with emergency power bank there is the Fenix E-SPARK.
A rechargeable battery pays off if you use the light often: you charge it via USB-C and need no disposable batteries. You can buy batteries anywhere; they suit emergency kits, travel and lights you rarely use. Some models take both: the Fenix LD22 V2.0 runs on the supplied rechargeable battery or on AA batteries. The Varta Dynamo Light with hand crank works without any power socket at all.
The first digit after IP stands for protection against dust, the second for protection against water; an X means that dust protection was not tested. IPX8 and IP68 stand for protection during continuous submersion, IP68 is also dustproof. The manufacturer specifies the depth; for Fenix models such as the LR35R or PD36R Pro it is 2 m. IPX6 protects against water jets, IP54 and IPX4 against splashing water.
Coloured light dazzles less than bright white light, and red light preserves your dark adaptation. This is practical for reading maps, in the tent or as a signal: the Fenix E-SPARK has steady and flashing red light, the Fenix E03R V2.0 a red LED. For hunting there are lights with red and green light: besides the white LED, the Fenix HT32 has a red LED with up to 400 lumens and a green one with up to 1'400 lumens. The Olight Marauder Mini offers red, green and blue LEDs.
An emergency light must still work after a long time in a drawer and without a power socket. Suitable options are battery lights such as the Fenix E12 V3.0, which runs on one AA battery and draws no power in standby, or the Varta Dynamo Light with hand crank. The Fenix E-SPARK can also charge your phone with its power bank function. Add spare batteries and check your supplies regularly.
A tactical flashlight is designed for use by police, security services and emergency services: tail or dual switch for one-handed operation, direct access to the highest level and a rugged housing. One example is the Fenix PD36R Pro with a dual switch you can operate without looking. You will find the full selection among the tactical flashlights in our shop.
Only a lamp certified for this purpose. The Fenix WF05E and the rechargeable Fenix WF30RE are certified for gas zones 1 and 2 and dust zones 21 and 22, the Fenix WF11E also for zones 0 and 20. Which zone applies at your workplace is determined by your company.
The highest light output in our range comes from the Fenix LR80R and the Fenix LR50R V2.0 with 18'000 lumens each. The LR80R reaches 1'130 m beam distance and has a shoulder strap, the LR50R V2.0 reaches 846 m and also offers UV and red light and an OLED display. Both reduce brightness to protect against overheating.
