Pulsar is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of thermal imaging devices and night vision optics. At Swiss-Sale.ch you will find a carefully curated Pulsar collection shipped from our Swiss warehouse – from compact thermal monoculars and thermal binoculars to night vision clip-ons, the hardware-upgradeable Telos LRF and the new Wildlife Lumion line dedicated to nature observation.
The Pulsar brand was launched in 2009; the company’s roots go back to 1991. Today, the Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide group employs over 1,100 people across seven countries, with headquarters in Vilnius, Lithuania. Pulsar is one of the few manufacturers to control microbolometer sensor design, optical engineering, AMOLED display and final assembly entirely in Europe.
Five Pulsar models have proved particularly popular with our Swiss customers:
Pulsar’s thermal monoculars cover the full range of applications. The Axion series with 4.5-second fast startup is ideal for quick observation while stalking or sitting in a high seat. Models such as the Axion XG35 with 640×480 sensor and the XQ variants deliver compact performance in every situation. The Oryx LRF series combines high-resolution thermal imaging with an integrated laser rangefinder for precise distance measurement – essential for ethical shot placement.
With the Telos LRF XL50, Pulsar created the first hardware-upgradeable thermal monocular: sensor, display and software can be upgraded later, keeping the device current for years. The Wildlife Lumion XL50 line is aimed specifically at nature observers seeking a high-quality thermal device without tactical features – for ornithology, wildlife biology and quiet animal observation.
Pulsar is one of the few manufacturers that control the entire production process in Europe. From sensor development through optical design to final assembly, everything happens under one roof – at the headquarters in Vilnius. The result: 640×480 microbolometer sensors with a 50 Hz frame rate, delivering smooth, detail-rich thermal images. This vertical integration enables short innovation cycles and a level of quality control that would not be possible with imported components.
For extended observation sessions where monocular viewing becomes tiring, Pulsar offers binocular thermal devices. The Merger XT50 LRF combines dual-eyepiece comfort with long-range performance and integrated distance measurement. The Symbion LRF DXT50 rounds out the range with an alternative sensor configuration for nature observation and wildlife management. The Merger Duo plays a special role: it combines thermal and optical imaging in a single device using multispectral imaging technology – a world first in hunting optics.
If you wish to keep your existing riflescope, Pulsar clip-on devices are an excellent choice. The Forward FN455S is a digital night vision clip-on that mounts in front of the day scope – without re-zeroing. The Krypton 2 series (XQ35, XG50) does the same for thermal imaging, turning any conventional riflescope into a fully featured thermal system. A selection of Pulsar clip-ons can also be found in our night vision category.
With the Thermion and Thermion 2 series, Pulsar offers thermal riflescopes that mount directly onto standard rings. The devices combine high-resolution 640×480 sensors with AMOLED displays and offer multiple colour palettes, picture-in-picture mode and ballistic calculators. The 50 Hz frame rate ensures a blur-free image even during fast panning – a decisive advantage during follow-up tracking and when hunting moving game.
Pulsar maintains a thoughtful battery ecosystem: the APS, IPS and LPS battery packs are tailored to specific device classes and charge via USB-C or dedicated charging stations. Adapter sets for Forward, Krypton and Helion are available from third-party manufacturers such as Rusan in custom-fit quality. For all Pulsar models, the free Stream Vision 2 app provides live streaming to a smartphone, photo and video capture, and firmware updates over Wi-Fi.
With Pulsar Wildlife (WLO, Wildlife Observation), Pulsar created a dedicated sub-brand in 2024 for nature observers, birders, wildlife biologists, forest services, gamekeepers and tour guides. The WLO line is built on Pulsar’s proven platforms but is purpose-tuned for civilian nature observation – without tactical features, with a comfortable image and its own app ecosystem.
The Pulsar Wildlife range is immediately recognisable by its distinctive green and orange housing – a deliberate visual departure from the black Hunting models. Inside, on-screen text has been switched to green, which is easier on the eyes during long observation sessions, and the software is calibrated for nature observation. Instead of the Stream Vision 2 app, WLO devices use the dedicated Wild Vision app with live-streaming – ideal for sharing observations with a group (tour, workshop, school class) on multiple smartphones at once.
| Feature | Pulsar Hunting | Pulsar Wildlife (WLO) |
|---|---|---|
| Housing colour | Black | Green / orange accents |
| Display text | White | Green (easy on the eyes) |
| App | Stream Vision 2 | Wild Vision (with group streaming) |
| Model lines | Axion, Oryx, Telos, Merger, Symbion, Thermion, Krypton, Forward | Alaris, Lumion, Orni, Ventex |
| Target audience | Hunters, gamekeepers | Birders, wildlife biology, forest services, tour guides |
| Feature scope | Includes tactical features (strobe, ballistic calculators) | Reduced to pure observation features |
Which line for whom? Anyone in the field with a firearm chooses the Hunting series. Anyone observing without a firearm – classic birding, beaver monitoring, lynx research, guided nature walks, complementing trail cameras – is better served by the WLO line. Both lines come from the same European manufacturing in Vilnius and share sensors, optics and core image processing.
