Fenix ARE-A2 charger

The Fenix ARE-A2 is a dual-channel, intelligent charger designed for different types and sizes of rechargeable batteries. The Fenix ARE-A2 charger automatically selects the correct charging mode for each battery type, whether Li-Ion, Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries. For safe charging of batteries, the ARE-A2 charger is equipped with four protection circuits, against short circuit, overvoltage, overstom and incorrectly inserted batteries. The high-resolution LCD screen always shows the charging status and the condition of the batteries.

The Fenix charger ARE-A2 can be used with the included power cord directly from a 230V outlet or with the separately available 12V cable also directly from the car plug in the car, camper or boat.

simple and an informative display

Simple to use out of the box, but read the manual. Has an informative display showing the current voltage of the battery (with 2 decimal points), the charging current (in mA) , the charging time used (in hours and minutes) all sequentially as you push a button and the state of the charge, constantly with an info-gram. You can follow the charging status, current and voltage during the whole charging time. You can also switch the display off if you wish.
A little bit awkward installation of the battery in between the charging contacts but once you know that the spring pushing them together is quite strong you learn your lesson and you find a way to insert the battery without it being shot into your face, as it happened to me at the beginning.
Thanks to the information from the display of this charger I discovered that my older different charger was in fact charging my 18650 batteries not to their full potential.
It charges batteries of different sizes and capacity, you can also charge simultaneously different batteries on each of the two charging ports. A good piece of equipment to have in your house and for a good price too. I recommend it.
