Together with engineer Gunnar Tillander, they invented the first liquid-filled compass in 1933, which proved to be a superlative among compasses. The milestone for the name Silva was thus set and the foundation of the company was sealed in 1933. The brothers endeavoured to continue producing outstanding outdoor equipment in the young company. The successor of the compass, the first headlamp was manufactured in the founding year. The company developed and in the many years of its existence has become the leading manufacturer of compasses. Silva, a globally operating and recognized company, has received the Industry Award several times for its outstanding products.
